The start of June is the perfect time to get kitted our for a great summer’s running.  Here are our personal recommendations from our current range.

All Iffley Road t-shirts and vests are made from our own bespoke drirelease® fabric.  We’ve yet to find a better material for summer running – it’s really soft, highly wicking and dries four times faster than cotton.

Our staple everyday running top is our “Cambrian” classic t-shirt which will be available in a number of new striped options over the next few weeks.  If you fancy a slightly different look why not try our “Marlborough” v-neck tees.  On really hot days our “Sidmouth” half zip top is a great option.  Running with the collar up keeps the sun off the back of the neck and having the zip right down keeps you that little bit cooler. 

Personally we don’t train regularly in vests, saving them up for racing and parkruns for that special race day “go-faster” feeling.  If you’re feeling really up for it, why not try the vest we developed in collaboration with Vivobarefoot for their elite race team? With its distinctive white chevron on a red base it’s sure to put you in the mood for a PB.

Personally we never really mind running through the odd summer shower.  However for prolonged downpours, particularly on slightly chillier days, a lightweight waterproof top is a good idea.   We recommend our award winning “Sheen” runner’s gilet.  Made from super light Italian softshell with a leading edge eVent® inner membrane it weighs in at just 125g (medium) yet has a waterproof rating of 20,000mm (that’s twice the requirement of most ultra running events).  Sheen stows away neatly into its own back pocket.

To stay hydrated over summer we offer traditional 750ml water bottles made from easy-squeeze BPA free plastic with leak proof self-sealing valves.  We also stock smaller, more portable, 330 ml soft flasks.
