The Podcast Series: Episode 4

In episode 4 of the Iffley Road podcast series we’re in conversation with Ivo Gormley, founder of GoodGym.

GoodGym grew out of a single act of kindness years ago when Ivo started jogging round to an elderly neighbour to deliver his paper. Since then it has grown into a nationwide organisation with almost 50 locations, plenty more under consideration and well over 100,000 good deeds under its belt.

GoodGym offers an imaginative alternative to conventional gyms, tapping into the human potential of local communities. ~ The Guardian

The idea is simple. Rather than always heading the gym, why not occasionally take part in a GoodGym task such sorting cans at a local food bank or a visit to an isolated person? You run to and from the task, making for a great work out.

I want volunteering to be seen as mainstream – often it has over worthy connotations. ~ Ivo Gormley

You can find out more about the buzz of volunteering at this wonderful organization and how to get involved on their website.
