Top 10 Places to Run in London
  • Richmond Park
    If you’ve never been there before follow the Tamsin Trail. Or for the more adventurous go cross country. Make sure to take in the Isabella Plantation and Sidmouth Wood. Best in Spring.

  • The South Bank
    Run from Waterloo to Tower Bridge crossing at Blackfriars and taking in iconic sites such as Big Ben, the London Eye and the Oxo Tower. This run is best done first thing in the morning before the cyclists get up! (see photo)

  • Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and St James’ Park It’s worth taking in all three parks. Famously used by the Serpentine Running Club as one of their regular Wednesday night runs.

  • The Serpentine Lake
    If you’re short of time the Serpentine Lake (Hyde Park) and Long Water (Kensington Gardens) make a nice short circular route. Also used by the Serpentine Running Club for their monthly handicap.

  • Regent’s Park and Canal
    Explore your own loop of Regent’s Park. Then for a little contrast get onto the canal. Practice your fartlek by sprinting between barges!

  • Thames Towpath
    There are so many routes to choose from. If you run from Barnes to Hammersmith Bridge on the South side it's a quiet rural route while if you choose the North side, it’s a maze of quiet backstreets historic pubs and a blue plaque fest of period housing.

  • Primrose Hill
    The perfect spot for some grassy hill training with a stunning view of the city.

  • Parliament Fields
    Lose yourself in a maze of undulating trails. An infamous venue for English National Cross Country Championships. Also used as a location for the film Run Fatboy Run. Relentlessly hilly with very little flat for recovery.

  • Bushy Park
    Bushy Park is famous for being the birthplace of parkrun as well as a host of other races during the year. Henry VIII used the park as his deer hunting grounds. Take time to explore the Waterhouse Woodland Garden on the West side.

  • Battersea Park and Track
    A beautiful park with smooth tarmac for fast running if you’re looking to improve your times. Also offers a great well lit track with a club house.
